The Corridor of the Heart

The Lord took me into a vision. In this vision I was walking along a corridor and on either side were doors. The floor and the walls of the corridor were red, made of muscle and they were pulsating gently. I understood that the Lord was using this imagery to communicate to me that we were inside my heart. At the end of the corridor was bright light.

As we walked, I noticed that the doors were labeled. They were labeled with words like PATIENCE, KINDNESS, ENDURANCE, GOODNESS, FAITH and other words. I recognised that these were the fruits of the Spirit listed out in Galatians 5: 22-23 as well as the attributes of love as written in 1 Cor 13: 4-7, 13.

The Lord encouraged me to open the doors. As I opened each one, I was astounded to see memories inside the room. The memories filled the whole room and played before my eyes like scenes out of a movie. I understood that each memory was connected to the attribute that was written on the door. If it was PATIENCE, I would see events that had taken place in my life that contributed to me growing in that particular trait. Each room was filled with events in my life that had matured me in these characteristics. It was amazing to see.

When I came out of that vision, I finally understood what the Scriptures meant when they say that the Lord judges the heart. Before I delve into that though, I want to mention something called personality and memory transference after heart transplant surgery. It has been found that receivers of hearts can receive memories or even personality traits from their donors. Isn’t that amazing!! Science continues to provide evidence for the spirit realm.

Now let’s look at some Scriptures regarding the heart:

But God told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 MSG

As in water face reflects face, So a man’s heart reveals the man.

Proverbs 27:19 NKJV

I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Isaiah 17:10 NKJV

As we continue on our walk of faith, we are to bear fruit as written in 15 (Jesus being the Vine and we being the branches). The Father, who is the Vinedresser prunes the branches so that they bear more fruit. The Bible says that we shall know wolves in sheep’s clothing by their fruit (Matthew 7: 15 – 20), but then further along the chapter it seems as if fruit can be faked. Jesus says that not all who cast out demons, heal or do wonders in His name will enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7: 21 – 23). So these things cannot be the fruit spoken of in John 15 and Matthew 7.

I believe the fruit we should be watching out for are not great signs and wonders, but rather the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and the Attributes of Love. These are the things that are visible to the Lord when He searches our hearts. Let the rooms behind the doors of hearts not be found empty.

This is why the psalmist wrote:

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 139: 23,24 NKJV

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14 NKJV

I want to encourage you today to cultivate your INNER LIFE. Remain in the vine in union with Him, so that you would bear the fruit that pleases the Father. Let the Holy Spirit transform you from within, so that our Bridegroom King can delight in you.

Your inward life is now sprouting, bringing forth fruit.
What a beautiful paradise unfolds within you.
When I’m near you, I smell aromas of the finest spice,
for many clusters of my exquisite fruit
now grow within your inner garden.
